The Bay St George Chamber of Commerce boasts a membership representing a wide variety of business, government, service organizations and individuals. Our members combine their efforts and time to ensure the economic growth of the region.

Our Mission: To promote development within the region, support local businesses, and create a positive, sustainable business climate.



  • Goal 1: To Promote and Improve Trade and Commerce in the region.

    Goal 2: Advocate for economic, civil, and social well-being in the region.

    Goal 3: Initiate and promote business exchange and development for the benefit of members.

  • Goal 4: To provide leadership that gives businesses a strong and collective voice.

    Goal 5: 5yr-10yr implementation development of the sector plans and identifying different opportunities.

    Goal 6: Ongoing implementations of public policy role-ensure it becomes part of the way that the Chamber operates as is on top mind at Executive and Members Meetings.

Our Chamber's History

In 1955, Mr. Leo Bruce, using the services of a field worker from the Canadian Chamber of Commerce as well as several Stephenville residents, formed the Stephenville Chamber of Commerce - the first chartered Chamber of Commerce in Newfoundland.

The history of the Bay St George Chamber of Commerce is rich in the spirit of true enterprise. The focus has always been to encourage and promote the economic growth and prosperity of the region.

Debbie has been a big advocate for business development in the area and has been involved with Chamber of Commerce in the past, serving as director. She was instrumental in the creation of the Regional Museum of Art and History which was a much needed entity in the region. Debbie is pro-business that is conducted with the best interest of the people and the environment. She is happy to be President of the BSG Chamber of Commerce and looks forward to great economic growth in the future.

I have been with the chamber 25+ years and employed with CBDC Long Range for 35 years and recently retired in October 2023. I have a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree. CBDCs are a network of independent, not-for-profits that co-operate with all levels of government and the private sector to help service our clients. I provide Leadership, General Administration, Services to clients and administration of a loan portfolio.

I've worked extensively with small businesses over the last 6 years and will lead the rollout of the College’s Entrepreneurship Initiative that supports the creation and development of student and alumni small businesses in NL. Marie is a former Manager with the Services Canada and has been involved with the BSG Chamber of Commerce for over 15 years. She has considerable experience in human resource management, financial management and the promotion of economic development. She has been involved with many non-profit organizations in the pasi and is current Chair of the Stephenville theater Festival.

Originally from Bay St. George, Cecil started Amgwes Safety in 2014, when he returned from Alberta. Cecil is a highly accomplished Red Seal journeyman glazier who was part of building the new curriculum for his trade. Cecil is the recipient of the Leo Bruce Award for Entrepreneurial Excellence, the Entrepreneur of the Year Award from Qalipu Business Network, and the Red Seal Canadian Standard of Excellence Award.

I’m the person who welcomes new members to the chamber, since August 2022. I plan, market and implement the chamber events, such as our Golf Tournament and our meeting luncheons. After 35 years in the Retail Management Field, I moved back to Newfoundland in 2016 to get a trade in Administration. I graduated with a Diploma in Business Administration and Accounting with Keyin College, Stephenville; as well I hold a diploma in Travel and Tourism.
